It’s hard to stay consistent with posting, but I’m very consistent when it comes to my Fashion List series. I think it’s because thinking about changing seasons is a purely positive use of time. The mix of nostalgia, idealism, and anticipation is intoxicating.
And here in Austin, with most days in August hitting 100 degrees, thinking about fall is practically mandatory. We try to will cooler days into existence. I’ve already watched a horror movie and added pumpkin spices to my (iced) coffee.

When I was considering my color palette this season, I took a look at my Instagram grid and realized it nearly perfectly sums up what I’ve been drawn to: pink-leaning purples, mustard yellow, rich teal and navy, medium brown, pure green, and orange-leaning reds.
There is absolutely nothing surprising about these color choices: they show up again and again in my preferences. I’m sure you color season people could type me, but all I know is that these colors make me happy and I feel like I look good in them.

Here are the other elements of my fall fashion list:
Clothing Colors: pink-leaning purples, mustard yellow, rich teal and navy, medium brown, pure green, and orange-leaning reds…and black (#priestlife)
Styles: open weave and crewneck cardigans, crinkle and gauze fabric, straight leg jeans, true vintage mom jeans, cuffed pants, v-line waists, loose and cropped collared shirts
Aesthetics: academia, light prep, mid and late 90s
Patterns: subtle-ish animal print, polka dot, stripes, abstract multi-color
Accessories: perpetually Baggu (affiliate link), tabi and square toe flats, Worishofer sandals (affiliate), low profile leather shoes, tortoise shell and Y2K style glasses…my single Labubu
Makeup: maroon eye liner, coral blush, Glossier Balm Dotcom in Black Cherry (affiliate link)
Here’s what I’m avoiding or putting in storage this season: uncomfortably high waisted pants that cut into my ribcage, rust colors that lean too drab, true blue and sapphire, heavy/clunky shoes, colorful pants (except my Sunflower Lucy & Yaks)

I had the great fortune of spending some time shopping with my mom when I visited Florida last week. I didn’t buy very much (she bought me a skirt + a dress and SAS shoes (affiliate) at a thrift store), but I got to look around and get some inspiration.
I took that inspiration with me to the thrift store today and hit the jackpot (see above). Along with a few skirts I picked up over the summer and the items I already had in my wardrobe, I have basically everything I was looking for.
Style goals this season:
- Organize my clothes better so I can see everything I have.
- Develop a more minimalist wardrobe for work so I don’t have so much trouble figuring out what to wear.
- With the above two items taken care of, shop less.
