Glasses Review
I haven’t done a brand collaboration in well over a year. But a few months ago, GlassesShop reached out asking if I’d like to review a couple pairs of prescription glasses and it was easy to say ‘yes.’
I wear glasses during every waking hour. Due to chronic dry eye and astigmatism, contacts have never worked for me.
For me, glasses are primarily a medical device. But over the past few years, I have gathered a small collection of glasses in styles and shapes that I like. My go-to pair have Transitions technology, but I have a few others that are more simple.

As a kid, I was more of a trend follower when it came to glasses shapes. I had a narrow gray pair with Marvin the Martian on the arms in the 4th grade and a ruby red rectangular frame through most of high school.
I briefly tried the big black hipster frames, but they didn’t really suit my complexion. These days, I prefer jewel tone acrylic or wire frames with a bit of a vintage shape. In particular, I like glasses shapes that are reminiscent of the 70s through the early 2000s.

Besides style, I am really picky about comfort. They must not put too much pressure on my ear, and they must be lightweight.
To ensure that the glasses I purchase online fit my specs, I pay attention to weight and measurement details, comparing them against glasses I already own and like. I also make sure that the PD measurement range is appropriate for my prescription.

Review of GlassesShop.com
GlassesShop.com is similar to many other online glasses retailers that offer a wide variety of in-house styles at a variety of price points. They have lens options like Transitions, blue light blocker, and progressive lenses. Glasses are produced in China, then shipped worldwide.
To find suitable glasses, you can use their face shape detector tool. I opted to use my trusty measurements from previous glasses orders to ensure I got a good fit, then shopped by shape and size (I need small glasses even though I have a big head!)
I requested the review the following women’s styles:
Betsy in Green
To be honest, these remind me of the “slutty little glasses” discourse. They are smaller than I usually go for, but they have that 90s hearthrob shape and the metal fabrication is very light and comfortable to wear. I also like the dark hunter green, which almost reads black while also bringing out the green in my hazel eyes.
Mignon in Tortoise
These glasses are most similar in shape to the Y2K glasses I grew up with. I know this style is technically back, but it does feel like a real throwback to me. I’m not totally sold on the shape, but I like the bamboo-look details on the arms. These are nice and lightweight, but a little stiff. They also feel a bit tight on my ears.
Quality, Price, Shipping
GlassesShop glasses are priced in a similar range to other online retailers, maybe a little less. The price is reasonable for the quality. I will say that the Mignon feels a bit fragile compared to the Betsy, because they’re made out of a rigid acrylic rather than a flexible metal.
As far as shipping, I can’t vouch for the consumer experience unfortunately. They had a bit of a backup when shipping mine, but it was also August, when the tariffs were going into effect. Just be mindful of their shipping times on the website.
I’m curious about your glasses taste these days and where you like to buy them!
